Google Shopping is product ads in Search (and the Shopping tab), powered mostly by your Merchant Center feed. It captures demand when users are actively searching.

Performance Max (PMax) is “expanded Shopping”: feed + Google automation across Search, Shopping, YouTube, Display, Discover and Gmail.
